Editor,
Regarding Richard Berthold's remarks, I'm absolutely sure that he is still proud of his admiration of the terrorists.
They first terrorized the passengers on the civilian airliner by grabbing one of the stewardesses and slitting her throat in front of them while screaming "God is great" in Arabic, then they rammed the airplane into the Pentagon.
I'm certain that Mr. Berthold is secretly gloating over the fact that the country he despises was dealt such a disheartening blow by these "brave terrorists" who were willing to sacrifice their very lives to dramatize their hatred for the American way of life that he so deeply shares.
I'm certain that Mr. Berthold is unrepentant in his love for the shear boldness of these radical Islamic patriots who sacrificed their lives to murder upwards of 7,000 Americans in an attack that caught them unawares, as they pursued global economic domination in the World Trade Center.
I'm certain that Mr. Berthold and many of his colleagues would vote to have Mr. bin Laden and his brave "freedom fighters" installed in the White House were it at all possible.

I'm certain he is proud of what he said despite his "apology."
However, I, for one, am now ashamed to be a UNM alumnus.
