I want to thank UNM and its students — past and current — for being great supporters of Peace Corps.
Earlier this month, Peace Corps celebrated its 40th anniversary on campus with an event sponsored by the Latin American and Iberian Institute. Peace Corps was honored, and humbled, by the overwhelming response from the local community. UNM administration and professors, as well as former Peace Corps volunteers and UNM Peace Corps applicants, joined together to commemorate 40 years of cross-cultural learning and humanitarianism.
Close to 200 UNM alumni have served in 134 nations since 1961. Peace Corps proudly looks forward to sending abroad America’s new ambassadors, UNM’s Class of 2001, this next year.
