Free music and food at Love-In gathering

Staff Report

ASUNM is sponsoring UNM's first Love-In Saturday from 2-6 p.m. on Johnson Field.

The Love-In is a free gathering with live music and food, and, according to Student Special Events Cultural Director Stefanie Taylor, the event is not technically taking the place of UNM's Fiestas, the customary spring gathering on Johnson Field. However, since Fiestas was cancelled this year because of low attendance in the past, the Love-In could be seen as a temporary replacement.

The Love-In is scheduled to include local acts Blame It On Rachel, Ben Hathorne of the Hopefuls, 420 ONE, 2001: The Band That Lives For Only One Day and CafÇ Mocha Salsa Ensemble - which will be playing unplugged.

Taylor said she is not sure that the Love-In will attract more of a crowd than Fiestas because the two are such different events and she didn't want to draw comparisons between the two.

"We just wanted to have something that would be outside in the grass because it is spring time - something where there is music, groovy vibes, free food and people can hang out on the grass," Taylor said.
