Editor,
I would like to address the various leaders around the UNM campus.
The first person I would like to address is Sen. Grant Nichols. I commend you for writing bills for the Senate to deliberate on, however, I question your reason. As you were running for re-election, I noticed that you kept mentioning communication with the students, representatives and student groups. I would like to point out that the best way to communicate with students is through the Daily Lobo. Please continue to write new bills, but think about the consequences if one of them passes.
President-elect Andrea Cook, I believe it is a little silly that you would like to waste the time of thousands of freshman with an eight-week course when they could be learning instead. Please forget this idea before you put an unneeded burden upon entering freshman that are already crunched with time.
Daily Lobo Editor in Chief James Barron, you will continue to get your funding thanks to the student body. I believe the Lobo deserves it, but it would be nice of you to prove that. Not once in your editorials did you mention the amount of money in any specific Daily Lobo accounts. If you would provide numbers the student body would be much more supportive of you.
To our outgoing president Jennifer Liu, thank you for doing such a wonderful job representing the students of UNM. Your time and effort is much appreciated.
Finally, to Ben Tucker, thank you for your efforts in fighting for student causes such as tuition increases. However, are you even a student at UNM? I have an idea; try to be a model student and show that there are other ways of fighting the Regents. Maybe you could impress them by leading the students in your various student groups to getting good grades and being model citizens.
You never know, it might work. Remember you are a role model to those that follow you.
