Editor,
I just read Jeremy Reynalds' Friday column, with major confusion, about Ted Turner's supposedly inflammatory remarks. I find it completely astonishing that one man's statements could result in not only an entire article in a student newspaper, but mass media coverage, also.
Is it really worth the energy? Although Turner's comments are pretty insensitive, maybe a little self-examination is needed within the Christian community (or maybe just Reynalds).
Why is this offensive? Does it really matter what a "media mogul" says? Does it cause you to question your beliefs? Do you really think his statements will cause others that are weak in their beliefs to questions them?
If one person's statements stir up this kind of response, it's possible that your focus is misplaced. I can't understand how it is that while we have major humanitarian issues facing us, i.e. starvation, AIDS and genocide, how it is that anybody gives a fuck about what Ted Turner has to say about anything.
And Jeremy, what would Jesus do?
