Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Continues at the Southwest Film Center:
- "Paragraph 175," is a documentary by Robert Epstein and Jeffery Friedman tells the tale of the 100,000 German homosexual men who were sent to concentration camps during World War II. "Paragraph 175" features the accounts of six of the eight known survivors, who describe their experiences during the Nazi era and reveal the long-term consequences of the time.
The film will run Friday at 9 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 and 9 p.m.
- "Rice and Potatoes," by John Biasatti and Todd Wilson. "Rice" is slang for gay Asian men and "potatoes" is slang for gay Caucasians. The documentary was filmed in San Francisco and looks into the lives of 17 gay men, some Asian and some Caucasian. "Rice and Potatoes" offers frank and insightful commentary on the issues and stereotypes that surrounding inter-racial gay relationships. A free screening will be shown Saturday at 5 p.m.
- Part documentary, part fictional re-creation, "Beefcake" looks at the world behind the proto-gay pornography of the 1950s muscle magazines. It features interviews with fans and models, including Jack LaLanne. "Beefcake" runs Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.
