Editor,
I love how UNM just spent $20,000-$25,000 to Campus Parking Management Associates to have it determine our parking woes and how to fix them! I would have done it for free! CPMA came up with “add more parking spaces.” How brilliant!
Oh, and I loved that its plan is to alleviate the parking problems during a 10-year period! Well, I’m glad that, by the year 2011, they will have solved 2001’s parking problems! How about if they focused on solving this year’s problems this year! Like maybe making a second entrance and exit to the north G parking lot?
It’s ridiculous that it takes me 30 minutes to get into the lot — this includes waiting at the light at Indian School Road and University Boulevard and then waiting on University for north-bound traffic to clear just to get into the lot!
I also enjoyed how Dan Keller said, “… the University bus system works well ...” What, did he get some sort of front-of-the-line-pass for the bus? On good days, I wait anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes for a bus just to show up! And forget catching a bus on a bad day when one bus is there but 200 students are waiting to get on that bus.
It’s actually quicker to walk to, and from, UNM main campus to the G lots sometimes. And if a ton of students are at the G lots and no buses arrive, I could almost guarantee three empty buses are at Dane Smith Hall. Maybe next time UNM could save themselves some money and instead of spending it on a company to help them out, they could just spend a quarter and buy a clue!
