Editor,
I highly approve of the views expressed by Don Schrader in the Feb. 5 Daily Lobo. I would like to go one step further than he did. What about making arrangements with the transit department to offer students bus passes as part of the fee structure?
Students have to pay a maintenance of status fee to cover the basics, even though they may not be enrolled in courses. This happens when a graduate student is studying for comprehensive exams, as I did back in the 1980s.
In letters to my city councilor, among others, I have recommended that employers of 100 or more people who work a 40-hour week should offer their entire work force commuter passes at work.
