GPSA's special election votes have no real meaning

Editor,
As much coverage as the Graduate and Professional Student Association/Athletics Department issue has gotten at the Daily Lobo, it seems that close attention should have been paid to the way the graphs were labeled. What the article says and what the graphs portray, are two different things. So, if I am reading the graph correctly 81 percent of graduate and professional students said they “have” confidence in the way that Mr. Krebs handled the coach Locksley incident? First off, the GPSA can vote on whatever they want but voting no confidence in Mr. Krebs basically means nothing except that they might be keeping him from getting another athletics director position at the collegiate level. Secondly, the graphs are completely misleading and don’t get the point across. Obviously someone never got the memo that people mainly look at graphics instead of reading through text. Finally, I think the GPSA has used my GPSA fee improperly by wasting time on this matter. So far all I have observed as a graduate student is that the GPSA is a student-funded joke.

might be time for some new leadership in GPSA, all this did way to make graduate students look foolish. Nobody liked the way the matter was handled but the time to speak out is long past and at a time when UNM is looking for resources from the state this delayed vote only makes us look bad. poor leadership

We don’t need new leadership at the GPSA we need our money back. The GPSA has done nothing of positive note or value for years but its just another way for UNM to nickel and dime us and give the money to self important morons. I can’t wait to graduate and stop funding all the fools.

No, what was foolish was the total incompetence of the UNM administration. It is illegal that the officials tried to hide the truth and then destroyed the documentation supporting Coach Gerald’s claim. (Yet some documents are still surfacing) Their personal gain is to save face for an already crooked department ran by dysfunctional personnel. What we have here is abuse of power and impairment of integrity. Mike Locksley, President Schmidly AD-Paul Krebs, HR investigator Shannon Garbiso and the VP of HR Helen Gonzales should all be fired.

Corruption and insufficiency is a major problem with the UNM administration, we should all be concerned with the leadership not just GPSA.
